YOGA OFFERS A BEAUTIFUL tapestry OF FLOWING MOMENTUM, FOCUS, & PLAY IN THE BODY WHILE DRAWING FROM THE BREATH as our CENTER - to RETURN TO BALANCE.

 

MY vinyasa + hatha yoga PRACTICE IS DEEPLY ROOTED IN THE ART + SCIENCE OF MOVEMENT AS MEDICINE.

 

FROM EARLY ON, I WAS DRAWN TO MOVEMENT ARTS.

 

BEFORE DISCOVERING YOGA, I WAS ATTRACTED TO DANCE AND CHOREOGRAPHY AS MEANS OF PHYSICAL EXPRESSION OF MY EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCE, AN OUTLET FOR MOVING energy THROUGH MY BODY,

 

WHAT CANNOT BE EXPRESSED IN WORDS CAN OFTEN BE ACCESSED WITH MOVEMENT.

 

MY EARLY GUIDING INFLUENCES WERE CLASSICAL BALLET WITH MARTHA GARVEY, MODERN DANCE WITH ANDRIA NIKOUPOLIS, AND MEDITATION WITH BETH COLEMAN; LOCAL LEGENDS FROM THE DOOR PENINSULA, 

 

YOGA HAS BEEN A GUIDING PILLAR IN MY LIFE FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS. MY FIRST deep DIVE INTO YOGA CAME FROM TRAINING UNDER UWM DANCE DEPartment CHAIR, DANCER & CHOREOGRAPHER JANET LILLY IN 2004. SHE TAUGHT AN INSPIRING BLEND OF IYENGAR YOGA WITH THE PRECISION & DISCIPLINE OF A CLASSICALLY TRAINED DANCER. THIS LAUNCHED MY PERSONAL PRACTICE.

YOGA HAS OFFERED ME A HOME + SANCTUARY EVERYWHERE I'VE LIVED IN THE WORLD. IT GAVE ME A COMMON LANGUAGE TO SPEAK and A built in TRIBE TO GATHER AND MOVE WITH.

MY 200HR TEACHER TRAINING IN 2017 WAS IN SEZZADIO, ITALY UNDER THE TUTELAGE OF MARCO MANDRINO & HARI OM YOGA SCHOOL INSTRUCTORS GIULIA MANZATO, EMANUELA BORIOTTI, & EMANUELA GENESIO. HARI OM FOCUSES ON NON-DOGMATIC APPROACH; INCORPORATING A VARIETY OF STYLES INTO THEIR CIRICULUM, HATHA + VINYASA, TAI CHI, ANIMAL MOVEMENT, MARTIAL ARTS, & GUIDED MEDITATION. DISCIPLINE & DEDICATION WERE STRONG FOUNDATIONS WITHIN THE COURSEWORK.

 

IN 2020 I STUDIED 150+ HRS UNDER STACY & DAVE DOCKINS OF YOGA PROJECT IN DENTON, TX WORKING TOWARD MY 500HR CERTIFICATION. YOGA PROJECT'S APPROACH IS VERY MUCH ABOUT CLINICAL, EVIDENCE BASED STUDIES TO INFORM A TEACHING STYLE WITH TRAUMA AWARENESS & THE INDIVIDUAL'S NEEDS AT THE FOREFRONT, FOCUSING INTENSELY ON THE REPROGRAMMING OF DYSFUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT PATTERNS IN OUR HUMAN EXPERIENCE.

2023 - 2024 I TRAINED WITH BALANCED BODY PILATES SCHOOL TO BECOME A CERTIFIED PILATES REFORMER INSTRUCTOR. PILATES brought A BEAUTIFUL ADDITION TO MY YOGic base for the ENHANCED ANATOMICAL UNDERSTANDING & HEIGHTENED AWARENESS of SOMATIC MOVEMENT DETAILS FOR REHABILITATING + STRENGTHENING THE BODY so we can age WITH GRACE & AGILITY.

 

movement has the ability to connect us together in this human experience, IT TRANSCENDS LANGUAGE AND HAS THE CAPACITY TO SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.

MOVEMENT LIGHTS ME UP AND I LOVE SHARING THAT sensation WITH OTHERS.

 

I STAND FIRMLY BEHIND THE UNDERSTANDING THAT optimal, functional MOVEMENT + integrated breathwork IS MEDICINE FOR BODY, MIND, HEART, & SOUL.
